Mount Dora Conveniently located in central Florida, you drive through fields and farmland to reach Mount Dora. This tiny, lakeside town has beautiful scenery, and is unlike most people's idea of Florida. The countryside is hilly and densely covered with leafy green trees. The charming town of Mount Dora has a large number of antique stores, art galleries and about a dozen good restaurants. You can walk just about anywhere in town, but don't expect a lot of nightlife in Mount Dora. This quiet town has horse-drawn carriage rides, spas, a lake and a 1920s era railroad car for scenic railway rides. Lake Dora has rentals for canoes, pontoon boats, powerboats and paddleboats. You can stroll out to the end of the spacious dock at night and listen to the loons as you gaze at zillions of stars.
